Press: Modern Chandelier Wedding by Kevin Chin for Grace Ormonde

25 December 2013

A little eye candy for all your readers catching up on your reading on this peaceful Christmas day.

Truly proud to share this wonderful design from one of the most spectacular weddings that we have ever worked on.  We thank Lauren and Ashton, our couple, for trusting us to create something wonderful for their 2013 wedding at Bardessono.

I cannot thank Kelly of A Savvy Event enough for being the one person who seems to bring out the best in all their vendors.  She let me run with this and we hope we did not disappoint.  More wedding planners should take a page out of her playbook.  When someone believes in you, you believe in yourself.   Kelly never once hesitated when I told her what I wanted to do.  From one sketch, she said --- do it!  Go for it. And we did.  Having someone who doesn't micromanage gave me the confidence to work with John Woods to create this 32 foot floral chandelier.

Thank you John and the rest of the hard working team at Enhanced Lighting.  I know the flowers weighed over 300 pounds but I wonder how much the rigging of this waterproof tray weighed?  He also showed Kate Bennett, my intern at the time,  and I how to operate a scissor lift.  We managed to build this piece while going back and forth on the lift.  Thank God for lifts.

You need really beautiful rentals to make this all work so kudos to the team at Hartmann Studios.  Boy do they have beautiful chairs.  The reception featured their new Vogue white chair. I think Lauren and Ashton's guests might have been the first wedding to feature so many of these gorgeous chairs. And they are comfortable -- surprise, surprise.

The best part of working on this wedding was that Kevin Chin, my sweet and awesome husband, got to share this experience with me.  I'm so happy that he captured these images as the lighting changed many times throughout the process and we didn't have a minute to spare before guests arrived.  I'm blessed that I get to work with such a talented photographer who knows how to shoot in a ballroom under difficult the night sky darkened you can see the everchanging mood.

Lastly ---- my incredible team never says never to me.  We laughed harder than one could imagine...and when it was done, we toasted each other with Root Beer Floats from the kitchen of Bardessono who came in to check on our progress at 11pm at night.

Did I say, I am one lucky person --- I am...thank you!  Merry Christmas everyone....and to all a very sparkling and heavenly day!!!
